Feeding Support
-
Picky Eating/Sensory
Some children have diffculty accepting new foods and have limiting preferences which impact their nutirtional intake and can limit growth and development. Little Stories has experience with sensory processing issues, fostering trust and teaching families how to support their child’s sensory needs around feeding.
-
Oral Motor Skills
Some children (and adults) avoid certain foods because they lack the ability to manage the food in their mouths making them feel tired or unsafe at meal times. Little Stories understands how to support muscle development, coordination for feeding and swallowing and building up oral function to increase intake and enjoyment during meals.
-
Swallowing
We take swallowing for granted and assume it’s easy. Because it happens in the throat and we can’t see it, we struggle to understand how swallowing can go wrong. Children with dysphagia (swallowing difficulties) also have feeding difficulties an often feel unsafe at mealtime in their attempts to protect their airway. Little Stories can help shed light on swallowing dysfunction and supporting advancement in skills and parent confidence.
