Why don’t you take Insurance?
As a solo practice we don’t accept insurance for our services, here are the top 3 reasons why.
Patient needs come first.
Every insurance company has their own rules for providing funding for speech therapy services. Many claims are denied by insurance as they are deemed not “medically necessary” if the issue is not related to a medical diagnosis. When they do accept a claim, many insurance companies have limits on how many visits you can have in a year and dictate the duration allowed for your visit time. Little Stories believes that treatment plans should be determined based on your specific needs and not a third party’s requirements.
You should be able to work with the provider of your choice.
Insurance companies determine their in network providers based on a long application process that is related to their business needs rather than the needs of their consumers. They focus on billing with a therapist that is licensed rather than skilled. Providers vary in their skill sets, areas of knowledge, expertise and how they connect with you. Not every therapist is a good fit, you could be sent to a provider that is great with language delays but knows nothing about swallowing, how will that meet your needs? Little Stories has years of experience in pediatric therapy and specializes in feeding and swallowing. We believe that you should have the choice to find the best fit for your needs without an insurance company dictating who you have to use for therapy.
The essence of time.
As a solo provider that comes to your home for therapy sessions, we save you time and the convenience of driving to an appointment. Providing therapy, maintaining documentation and running a business, there is no time left at the end of the day to add billing as a task. Little Stories would rather spend the time providing specialized treatment and supporting you and your family than arguing with insurance companies over denied claims and fighting for reimbursement.
It’s possible to use your insurance for speech therapy with an out-of-network provider. Prior to starting therapy, here are a few things to ask your insurance provider.
Call your insurance before starting therapy, they can tell you their process for filing a claim with an out-of-network provider.
Little Stories provides superbills upon request which include session dates, CPT codes, diagnosis code and payment. What other information they would need with a claim?
What are your out of network deductible and co-pay would be and how many sessions are covered in your plan?
An alternative option is to work with a reimbursement company like https://reimbursify.com/ to file your claims for you. Little Stories is no affiliated with them in any way, but has had families recommend them.
Finally, as an alternative if you have a Health Savings Account, you can also use FSA/HSA funds for speech therapy services.
*Little Stories accepts check, credit card, cash, and FSA/HSA cards and payment is due at the time of session. Little Stories provides superbills upon request. It is up to the family to pursue insurance reimbursement as it is not guaranteed.
